Executive summary

General Electric, now operating as GE Aerospace, designs and makes jet engines and related systems for commercial and military aircraft. It was reshaped after its energy and health care businesses were separated into independent companies. Customers include airlines, aircraft manufacturers, leasing firms and military customers, and the business is organised into commercial engines and services and defence and propulsion technologies units. Much of its commercial output comes through the CFM International partnership with Safran.

Revenue comes from new engines and from long-term maintenance, spare parts and repair work on engines already flying, which continues for many years. Revenue was $50.6 billion over the last twelve months, with growth of 16.3% a year across the last three years. The operating margin is 20.5%, and the business earns a profit of 33% on the capital invested in it. Net debt is 0.9 times EBITDA. The dividend yield is 0.6%.

StocksXray gives General Electric Co an X-Ray Score of 47 out of 100 (high confidence), ahead of 31% of the S&P 500 stocks in its sector. Its strongest lens is growth (82) and its weakest is valuation (12).

Our fair value blend is $112.31 (range $104.96 to $120.00). At $313.83 the stock trades 179% above that blend, so the label is "Overvalued" with high model uncertainty. Fair value is a range, not a price target.

How to read this report

Every number comes from SEC filings, end-of-day prices and the StocksXray models described on the methodology page. The X-Ray Score ranks each metric against the company's own sector. Fair value blends three models and carries a typical error of about 40%, so treat it as a range. Analyst ratings, price targets and earnings-call summaries are not part of this report. Educational research, not financial advice; read the disclaimer.
