It provides short-term, first-mortgage loans to commercial real estate borrowers, including owners and developers of income-producing properties such as apartments, offices and retail buildings. The company funds these loans through its own capital and borrowings, and its income comes mainly from the interest it earns on its mortgage portfolio. It is managed by an external asset manager and serves borrowers across Canada.
