* the next calendar day. US summer time (daylight saving) runs from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November. Pakistan, India and the UAE do not change their clocks, and the UK changes on different dates, so for a few weeks in March and in October or November the UK gap is an hour different from this table.

What a market holiday means for you

On a market holiday no regular trading takes place and orders wait for the next session. Settlement of earlier trades also skips the holiday: US stocks settle one business day after the trade (see trade settlement and T+1), so a trade made the day before a holiday settles after it. Dividend dates move too: check the dividend calendar and ex-dividend and record dates.

Outside the regular session, pre-market and after-hours trading continues on many brokers on normal days, with thinner volume and wider spreads, but not on full-day holidays. Details in pre-market and after-hours trading.
